MTM- Halloween

Here is our MTM. We've been doing it but haven't been posting recently. Our whole house has been passing sickness back and forth for the past few weeks. Currently it is Crazy Girl that has it. Which means no Children's Museum today, so I wanted MTM to be special. Here is our Trick-and-Treats tin.

Photobucket

Top: Raisin Scabs, Candy Corn and Pumpkins, Ghost Marshmallows.
Bottom: Soup with Eyes (Tomato with string cheese and green bean) and yogurt with a scary cat of sprinkles (imagination needed, I used a stencil, but it didn't reach the yogurt).
And the things on top are meatloaf cupcakes with mashed potato frosting.

Crazy Girl is now running around the house saying, "I like candy!" so it was a hit!!

MTM- All About Me!

Well, it is MTM, but I'm sick and pregnant and have double the food adversions because of it. All I've wanted lately is pasta, so I made some up and this is what we have for MTM. We didn't do a muffin tin, because it was easier to lay out on a plate. But, since Crazy Girl is all about soccer, here is our soccer lunch!

Photobucket

PB and J sandwich with raisins kind of making the soccer ball marks. It doesn't look as nice as when I color the soccer ball on with edible ink, but it is more appetizing.

Broccoli grass, which used to be Crazy Girl's favorite food, but she's boycotting it.

And some pasta sauce with letter pasta spelling SOCCER on the top. This was such a hit that Crazy Girl ate another small bowl of my pasta.

Pregnancy + Sick = UGH!

Crazy girl got sick two weekends ago, then passed it on to me, so I was sick all last week, and am still a bit sick. But, we did MTM last week, I just didn't post.

It was an open topic so we just yogurt, granola, Vegetarian Chicken Strips and BBQ sauce. Here is the picture.

Muffin Tin Monday-Children's Literature

For this Muffin Tin Monday, I had some fun because Crazy Girl LOVES books and it is her birthday week. SO, I made something for each of her 6 favorite books.

There are colored goldfish (though no blue ones!) for One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. One Fish, Two Fish

Red Jello for Llama, Llama Red Pajama, which Crazy Girl keeps saying "Llama Llama red jello!" A peanut butter cracker with legs and eyes added to be a spider (I planned on spider toast, but we were out of bread which never happens). Spider cracker

Green Eggs for Green Eggs and Ham. A worm Cake, from Crazy Girls Favorite Max and Ruby book. Worm Cake
And a cookie for What's Wrong Little Pookie, there is a line that says, "Did five tiny elephants with wings oh so blue, fly off with the cookies and leave none for you."

We'll eat healthier the rest of the day, but this was fun. Here is crazy girl eating away.

Exciting News

So, on Monday I was watching t.v. feeling miserable, and Teacher Man asks if I am coming down with something. I say I think I might be and he goes to bed. Then it occurs to me...I'm coming down with a baby. I tested Monday morning and it looks like Crazy Girl will be a big sister in May 2010. That being the case, I'm not experiencing any real symptoms except total exhaustion. So, we're all very excited.

I am really going to power through this weekend because this week Crazy Girl is turning 2!! What an accomplishment. So, we are celebrating her birthday week (as I am leaving out of town on her actual birthday and I'll miss it).

Here is our plan this week:
Monday: Running Group, Muffin Tin Monday, and Free Ice Cream @ Baskin Robins
Tuesday: 2 year old pictures, candy @ mall, Soccer Class
Wednesday: Running Group, Pizza, and cupcakes.
Thursday: Our New All Sports Class and Soccer Class (if we can handle another physical activity).
Friday: Probably Crazy Girl's Choice and relax because we have a great week planned.

Should be busy and a lot of fun!

Muffin Tin Monday

For Muffin Tin Monday the theme this week is Apples. Crazy Girl had a breakfast MTM of apple yogurt, Kashi apple granola, a sliced apple, and an apple doughnut that I made yesterday. YUM!

MTM Apples

Last week we celebrated 5-a-day week with this special lunch which included 5 servings of fruits and vegetable. If Crazy Girl had it her way, all she would eat is fruits and vegetables, so this meal was a total hit.

Baked sweet potatoes, steamed carrots, cucumber and hummus, and a peach. Oh, and a juice, which we don't drink much of, so it was a special treat!

Teddy Bear Day!

Teddy Bear Day was a blast! We painted a teddy bear. Sometimes crazy girl only paints in a corner like this:
Coloring her Teddy Bear

So, I asked her to point to certain areas of the teddy bear and that got her paint brush moving.

Head:
Where is the teddy bear's head?

Hand:
Where is the teddy bear's hand?

Then, we took a sponge and smoothed out the paint. When it dried I cut it out and Crazy Girl glued it onto blue paper and glued on buttons. Here is the finished project.

Finished projects 9/9/09

The other project was for great grandma and great grandpa. They got Crazy Girl this awesome ride on ladybug so Crazy Girl made them an great ladybug project. Basically, we used bright dots (for garage sales) and she put them wherever she wanted. I prompted to get eyes. We added legs and such later.

Ladybug Thank You

Putting on the "circles"

Overall, it was a nice day. We finished with a Teddy Bear dinner. And a nice early bedtime!

Oh, and I watched Glee, which was great and I think everyone should watch it!

Back-to-School Craziness

Well, teacher man started back to school today, leaving crazy girl absolutely distraught. She grabbed onto his leg and wouldn't let got. Really made mommy feel like an evil stepmother. Even after agreeing to let crazy girl sit at the table in a regular chair, we didn't get through one bite of breakfast before a timeout was needed. Timeout turned into a nap, and I'm hoping for the best when she wakes up.

The start of school brings the start of my coaching a middle school girls volleyball team. It is fun to see where crazy girl will be in 10 years, but it is scary, because she will be a tween and then a teen and frankly, that stage is why having a girl always freaked me out! This makes for a very busy schedule for our whole family, which makes for a lot of juggling between teacher man and me!

Today is Teddy Bear Day, so weather and toddler permitting, we will be having a teddy bear picnic. We will read a couple of Teddy Bear Books and maybe even do a teddy bear art project. I will post about what we actually accomplish tomorrow.

Here's to trying to get stuff accomplished!

First Post.

So, for awhile, I'm guessing this blog will be more of a sounding board for myself. But, I really hope to get some readers soon...so let's see how we do.

Stay-at-Home Mom is my number one job. This blog will discuss that job and all crazy things I do in order to give my daughter everything I think she deserves. To help her become intelligent, confident, kind, articulate, and athletic. I'll discuss reading groups, physical activities, and the co-op preschool I am working on starting. We'll talk about hits and misses we run into in our everyday lives.

I will also discuss many of the duties of my other job, as wife and homemaker. Sometimes I'll discuss shopping with coupons, but I am still learning and there are a lot of blogs that are much better on that topic than I am. But, other money saving ideas, cooking from scratch, stretching the food we have, and special treats that don't break the bank will be important.

So, a little about my family.

Me: I'm 25. I received my BA in Political Science in 2005 at the age of 21. Got married at 22 to my college sweetheart. MA in Elementary Education at a slightly older 22. Baby at 23. And never set foot in my own classroom. I just couldn't imagine teaching other people's children, and leaving mine with someone else. So, she became my number one student and so much more. I have since become obsessed with her development, taught her everything I could, and tried to find the best ideas for everyday learning that I could.

Husband: Or, as I like to call him, teacher man. We met his first weekend of college, I was his first girlfriend and it is so sweet. He is amazing. He cooks, he cleans, he changes diapers, and does laundry. It is amazing. He is also the primary bread-winner in our family, but could just as easily be a stay-at-home dad. Over the summer, he truly picks up 50% of parenting duties.

Baby: We call her Crazy Girl for obvious reasons (oh, you'll see). She is almost two in age, but in attitude she's been there a couple of months now. She is a sponge when it comes to picking up new skills. She loves art, music, parks, and above all else, SOCCER! She started classes at 17 months, and it is the best part of her week.

As a family, we have a very scheduled buy chaotic life. We stay busy because we have to. And we like it this way!
